Youth Justice Action Month: Take Action toward helping youths succeed

Young people leaving juvenile justice facilities need help now more than ever when returning to their families and communities. In light of Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM) PbS Education and Employment Foundation is taking action by hosting our first live virtual fundraiser, “Creating Real Second Chances,” on Oct. 27, 3-3:45pm. The live virtual fundraiser will feature a panel of youths who received financial support from the foundation and a family member with experience supporting her child’s reentry.. They will talk about the challenges and needs they faced or will soon face and help us better understand how we can help. The webinar is free to join and donations are encouraged.nThis summer the PbS Education and Employment Foundation provided $5,000 in Reentry Assistance Awards directly to 10 young people leaving facilities to help them pay for basic necessities such as food and clothing. But we need to do more and we need your help.nOur goal is to raise $2,000 or more so we can provide a second round of reentry awards in 2020 and give more youths the second chance they deserve.nThe time to act is now. You are all invited to learn, listen and donate to help youths overcome the challenges and situations that likely resulted in their involvement in the juvenile justice system and break the cycles of poverty, discrimination, unemployment, violence, addiction, homelessness and abuse.
