Family Engagement

Research has shown that justice-involved young people who maintain positive relationships with loved ones are more likely to be successful when they return home. Families provide emotional support and help navigate challenges. We partnered with the Vera Institute of Justice, Family Justice Program to develop national standards for facilities to implement best practices to meaningfully and effectively include families and social supports in youths’ rehabilitation and reentry. The work resulted in the Family Survey to collect feedback on family members' experiences with the justice agency.
