The Center for Improving Youth Justice (CIYJ) is proud to welcome Timothy Baymon Jr, MBA as our new Executive Director. Tim will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of CIYJ, responsible for leading strategic initiatives, overseeing programs, and advocating for youth justice reform. He will be filling the shoes of our founding Executive Director Kim Godfrey Lovett who is retiring Dec. 31.
With over 20 years of dedicated service to youth across Massachusetts and Connecticut, Tim brings a wealth of experience and commitment to empowering young people and strengthening communities.
Tim’s career has been defined by his passion for creating opportunities and providing resources that help young people navigate life’s challenges and reach their full potential. His extensive background spans residential programs, counseling services, educational support, and organizational leadership across three major metropolitan areas.
Tim began his career in youth services with the Center for Human Development in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he worked in residential programs and provided counseling to teenagers committed by the Department of Youth Services. This foundational experience shaped his understanding of the juvenile justice system and reinforced his commitment to helping underrepresented youth.
Building on this experience, Tim joined the YMCA of Greater Springfield and later the YMCA of Greater Hartford, where he focused on addressing the achievement gap and creating pathways to college and career success for young people. His work in these roles demonstrated his ability to develop and implement programs that produce measurable outcomes in youth development.
Tim’s leadership capabilities were further recognized when he took on program and center operations responsibilities for the YMCA of Greater Boston. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the Roxbury YMCA for more than three years, where he led initiatives that strengthened community engagement and expanded senior and youth programming.
His experience in both direct service and organizational leadership positions him to guide CIYJ’s strategic initiatives and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders. Please join us in welcoming Tim to the Center for Improving Youth Justice!
